Country 24/196: Somalia (actually it was Somaliland) Destination: Hargeisa Somalia is considered a rather dangerous country, so we had to find a safe spot to visit. We decided to visit Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland, an autonomous region of Somalia. Luckily, Hargeisa turned out to be a lovely city. We also visited Laas Geel, an archeological site near the city, where one can admire more than 9000 years old cave paintings and stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Country 22/196: Ethiopia Destination: Danakil Depression Wow, we definitely want to return to Ethiopia!!! ♥ There are lots of amazing places to visit in this magical country, but we chose to visit the famous Danakil Depression. Country 21/196: Chad Destination: N'djamena Well, the first thing every tourist needs to know about N'djamena is that it's forbidden to take photos of the most prominent places and monuments unless you have a special permit from the government. Since we didn't have the permit we had to pay some guards/soldiers to allow us to take at least some shots, but we still had lots of restrictions, so the photos are far from perfect. Country 20/196: Nigeria Destination: Lagos Lagos was a roller-coaster for us. First, we met the nicest guy who made the visa gaining process upon arrival very easy for us, even though we didn't have all the necessary paperwork. Country 19/196: Côte d'Ivoire Destination: Abidjan Abidjan is big city life. It's the perfect combination of modern and traditional, the perfect place to experience 21st century Africa. Country 18/196: Niger Destination: Niamey Our stay in Niamey was short but sweet. The capital of Niger is powered by the Niger River, which is also an endless source of beauty.
