Our beautiful home country Slovenia borders Croatia, Hungary, Italy, and Austria. That’s why whenever we feel like taking a trip, we can take a one-day getaway to either of these countries. Pretty cool, right? 🙂 After all, it takes us less than three hours to get to one of the most romantic cities in the world – Venice. ♥ Well, this time we decided to visit Minimundus and Wörthersee lake, located near Klagenfurt in Carinthia, Austria, at less than 200 km from our hometown.
Minimundus
Minimundus, the miniature world at Wörthersee, is a park displaying 156 models of the most beautiful buildings and attractions from all around the world, built at a ratio of 1:25. The mini-buildings have been recreated in detail according to original plans and using original materials. The models include the Statue of Liberty, the Taj Mahal, the Great Wall of China, the Chichen Itza pyramid, Sydney Opera House, the Sagrada Familia church, the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, Saint Basil’s Cathedral, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Toronto CN Tower, Abu Simbel temples, and many more. At Minimundus you can see the world in just one day! 🙂
Wörthersee
Wörthersee (English: Lake Wörth) is a lake in Carinthia, Austria. It’s known as the warmest of the large Alpine lakes, the largest lake in Carinthia, and a very popular summer vacation destination. The region around the lake is also known as ‘Austria’s Monte Carlo’. The lake is surrounded by forests, mountains, and picturesque towns full of luxury hotels, cafes, and restaurants. You can go golfing, horseback riding, hiking or jogging around the lake, swimming, canoeing, stand up paddle boarding, surfing, sailing, rowing, take a bike tour, rent a paddle boat, or simply enjoy a lakeside picnic with your significant other. 😉
